It's a feels a lot more controlled when driving compared to the red car! I think riding a motorcycle would feel safer than driving the red car! I think yes, you should live in Hamburg!
Ok well have fun with the driving and we´ll see what we can do about living in Hamburg. I think we might want to live in Bacharach in the Rhine Valley now and grow wine.

Hi folks. Wonderful to read about all your travels and this will be a great resource for your memoirs when you write them! I've just started a new job (still in Comms but different Ministry) and won't be roving for a while so I'm very much enjoying reading about yours instead.
Winter hit Wellington with a vengeance yesterday, as did a rattler of an earthquake, in the wee small hours. I was too cold to do anything but pull blankets over my head, which is probably as good an emergency tactic as any!
Go safely, enjoy yourselves & keep up the story-telling. Love A/Lyn
Hi Aunty Lyn - it is great to hear from you! That is no good about the earthquake, I hope everything is OK. Good to hear that you have a new job, something a bit different to keep you amused!! Nice to know you are enjoying the updates, we are certainly enjoying the adventures.

Hi Matt & Steph

I'm glad to read you arrived safely and are enjoying your grand European tour.

Matt- hopefully not too much of the beer or you'll be fitted out with a sehr gut gut - remember all that time on the bike.

I enjoyed reading your descriptions of places and sights - keep up the envy inducing posts.

Aurelia, Sonya & Russell
i am having to restrain myself with the beer, we went to the supermarket today, and i saw that you can buy a 6 pack of becks for 3.89.........oh dear.

Because when you have the backpack on you look like a turtle
Good to know that I´m turtley enough for your turtle club.

Hmm ... I can't decide what's more enjoyable to read - the globetrotters' updates or all the back and forth between you and your family/friends! Move over Summer Bay ...

Glad you guys are having such a great time - you really deserve this holiday! Keep the photos coming - there's plenty more room on my fridge.

Take care xx A
Glad you´re having fun reading our updates! Must be getting a bit chilly in Tassie now. I think my Mum adn Dad are heading down your end of the country soon, so I´ll get to hear about their adventures in Tassie soon.
From Sarah - Friday, 25th April 2008, 06:43 (GMT)
Hi Guys!
Looks like you are having a fantastic time. So completely jealous of your adventures. How's the german going? Matt - you sound very happy with all that beer! And so cheap!

Keep on having a fabulous time.
Sars xx
Hey Sars! Great to hear from you. Did you write in an email you were going to Morocco instead of Mexico in October? Either way it should be a great trip! Matt is certainly enjoying the German beer.
From Dad - Thursday, 24th April 2008, 23:23 (GMT)
I am sorry that I missed you this morning when Mum rang.
Ruby and I were walking. Interesting walk with a Koala scampering up a gum tree in Joannas across the road and Ruby finding some bush turkey chicks in the scrub near Tenkates.Despite the fact it was only 6.00am and quite chilly, Ruby still insisted on going for a swim in the creek on the way home.Mum was not happy when we got home.
I am glad you liked Hamburg. I can recall many years ago that it was one of the few places in Europe that had bars that would stay open all morning till the sun came up and groups like Pink Floyd would use Hamburg as their German concert city.I am glad that you caught up with Nicola and Anne. Please send my regards to the Westhoff's and tell them I can still recall how cold it was going to midnight mass on Xmas eve.
Love Dad
Wow Ruby sure had a busy morning - koalas, bush turkeys and a swim in the creek - what more could a dog want!

Mmm lavender beer. Maybe I would like that one?. I filled in for div 1 yesterday...that was interesting hahah. I hope you busted some 80s moves with jungle boy?!
Lavender and beer were actually two separate flavours but maybe you're onto a new flavour there! I didn't like the jungle man's music enough to join in, plus i was having too much fun watching!
From Robert - Sunday, 13th April 2008, 08:10 (GMT)
Have fun I am the first person the write on here!!! Yeah!!
Hey Rob. Well we were both really sad not to see all the Heffernans before we left but hopefully Bec and Evie are feeling better. Matt is just getting over his cold now - must be the German beer!
From Evie - Sunday, 13th April 2008, 08:11 (GMT)

Hi Matt and Steph,
Thanks for your emails and your Blog address. We have enjoyed catching up with all your travel news and adventures. Already you have seen heaps and set yourselves a lifelong task of exploring the pages of history . Nothing like being on the scene to make it all more relevant and real.
Life rolls on in Brisbane town with another working week completed and now the weekend half gone!!!Overcast weather with showers and pleasant temperatures. Checked out Berlin's temps -from 4 - 7 degrees the CM reported. Little wonder you both needed some gloves!!
Anzac Day next Friday - I wonder how you will find the days remembrance in Germany?
No amazing news to report- will be going to TBA on Saturday next weekend to see Gran and Cudge. Harriet turned 2 last Wed 16th April and their new bub is due in July I think?? More updates on that subject later.
Hope this finds you both well and in full adventure mode.
Much love
Ma and ZieZie

Hi Matt and Steph

Thanks for all the messages and news. Very exciting for us to follow your progress and hear of all your adventures. Anty Lyn was also intersted so I fowarded your blod address and she may get in touch that way.

Else and Inge have gone off to Andrew and kim's place to play witht he grand children. Technically, Inge is Grand Aunty Inge but calling her that may be a handfull for even that overacheiving part of the next generation.

The various components for my first gutar arrived through the mail on Friday. Very exciting! It will 2 weeks 'till I can get to it though as we are going to Canberra thsi weekend (ANZAC weekend) to see some art.

Everyone is well here. We only have a few weekends left ourselves until we are over on your side of the planet. It will be busy beteween then and now but I hope to get a little woodwork in before leaving.

Lots of love

I didn´t know Michelle was even gone but that is good news. I´m getting my fill of reality tv in Germany though because we have been watching a few episodes of the German version of Big Brother.

Thanks for the Berlin update on 20th- good time obviously enjoyed at the soccer and flying the Aussie flag on German TV!!
Autumn is more obviously with us as the crepe myrtle and liquid amber leaves change colour and are starting to fall. No doubt you are enjoying spring blossoms in the parks and gardens.

Hi Matt & Steph,
Love your news and photos. Have down loaded them so I can take them to Toowoomba to show Gran and Cudge when we visit them next weekend. They both love catching up on your news.
I guess you have been cruising along the Rhine and will soon be heading off to Italy for more adventures and warmer weather.
Its more than 2 weeks since you left BNE - probably seems like 2 months!!! You have certainly seen and done heaps already.
Looking forward to your next installment
Much love
Ma and Zie Zie

I hope Gran and Cudge liked the photos!
