From Diana Briselli - Wednesday, 4th November 2009, 22:19 (GMT)
I have just read about the project you are coordinating that involves giving Iraqi children stuffed animals (not pigs).
The last post is from the summer and I am wondering if you are still accepting stuffed toys?
Please email me to let me know. Not only do I have many to send, I would love to organize with friends to send even more.
Bless you and may you stay safe,
Diana Briselli
Diana, luckily for me, I'm getting ready to re-deploy back to the states within the next few months. After being here for over 3 1/2 years it's time for me to return home and reacquaint myself with my wife, children, grand-children and the rest of my family.

Donations are still being accepted but should be sent to the following address so they can be distributed to worthy children.

There are two addresses which can be used:

Michael Fellenz
USACE GRS
APO AE 09331

Thank-you again for donating to a worthy cause

Hello!
I think the other message that I sent you got lost. I really like your photos of the toy distribution--is it ok if I use some of them to advertise the toy drive that a few of my friends and I are organizing to send toys to Iraq?
Thanks very much and Happy New Year!
-Diane
Diane, feel free to use any of the photos from the site. The more exposure we get the better. And thank-you for helping our cause here and Happy New Year

I sent the pictures the other day.. So you should receive them in the next week or so. I understand, you gotta work..lol.. Things have been kinda crazy over here as well, Stephen still hasn't got his job back so Thank God for his mother because she has been helping us out with EVERYTHING! She's like our guardian angel! I also wanted to talk to you about something. I wanna get Brett & Elia here for a few days when you come back to visit in April. So maybe we could split the cost? Still waiting to find out if Bretts got the ok though. So we'll talk about it more when we can. But yeah, you should have the pics pretty soon! Love you Dad!
Ashley, she is beautiful.....please give me a call when you get a chance, we'd like to know if you recieved your box.

From Greg Fillers - Sunday, 31st August 2008, 06:54 (GMT)
Hi Mike,

This is my first visit to your blog but I will be a repeat visitor. I really respect all the work you put into getting the toys out to the kids, and I know how much work it is behind the scenes for you on your own personal time. I hope it is still going on at the South District too. I still think that is going to be one of the proudest and best legacies we leave behind us.
Thanks Greg and thanks for stopping by. If you have any pictures you'd like me to post I'd be happy to do so. Some of the best times I've had here was at GRS with the crew. The GRS gang continues to carry on Edmay's legacy. I just hope I can get something like what we did there going up here. It's one of the most rewarding things I've ever done......

Dear Michael,

After learning about this article from ParentHacks, both my husband and I were very excited about the brilliant idea to share gently used toys with kids in Iraq who are in needs. We gathered some of our daughter's toys last night, and immediately sent out totally 4 boxes this afternoon to the above given updated address posted in July 08. Hope kids there can also share the happiness my daughter had from these toys. When my 2 year old daughter grows up some day, I am going to tell her about the story how she shared her happiness with other kids in Iraq ......

Sincerely,
Takahide and Hsiao-hui
Takahide and Hsiao-hui,

Thank-you for your gift and your note. I apologize for not responding sooner but I always seem to forget that I get messages here. You're boxes arrived and we hope to be hand out some of your items within the next few days.

Please check back for pictures....

Mike

I'm not sure if you hit the sent button twice or how I received two messages. In any event, thank-you for your gifts and please look for pictures coming soon....

Are you still collecting toys? Our girl scout troop is hoping to send some over as soon as possible. Thank you for your service and for helping all the children.
Michelle, yes, we are still collecting items for the children of Iraq. We look forward to receiving whatever you send. Also, please have the girls view the pictures that we post of the giveaways.
From Tom - Monday, 10th November 2008, 02:10 (GMT)
My wife and I spent this afternoon cleaning/organizing our house in preparation for the birth of our second child. Needless to say, we were over-run & amazed by the amount of toys/stuff animals and games that my daughter had accumulated. A good percentage of them are brand new or hardly ever touched so I could not bring myself to just throw them out. I spent tonight searching the internet for a place to donate them and luckily I found your site (which is great, by the way).
As of 11/09/08 are you still accepting donations and is this the correct address:
Michael R. Fellenz
USACE-GRN-MAO
FOB MAREZ
APO-AE
09331
I did see in previous messages that no pigs or revealing clothes, so I will make sure to double check for those items.
Please let me know. Thank you!!!
Tom, yes I am still accepting toys and stuffed animal donations for the children of Iraq. Let me congratulate you both on your upcoming miracle. There's nothing better than the pitter patter of little feet running through the house. Also, thank-you for the response to the site, it has been a great way to touch base with people like yourself while also keeping in touch with family and friends in the states. The address is still current so please keep in touch. I wish you and your wife a safe and healthy child.
From Don Kraus - Friday, 12th September 2008, 15:27 (GMT)
Hi Mike,

Great to here from you and that you are safe and sound.
Looking forward to seeing you when you get back home. Monica is a doll. Still working on tax returns as many people didnot get the stimulus payment or if they did it was the wrong amount.

My assistant who was invaluable to me during the tax season passes away over three months ago. I miss her alot. She was 48 years old and died of breast cancer. She was my secretary when I worked at Marine in the 80's

Take care and write when you have time.
Don, I'm sorry to hear about your loss. Sorry to hear that you're still busy from the tax season also. Yes, my wife is a doll and I'm lucky to have her as well as Paige. This page allows her to keep connected on what I'm doing and let them know I'm safe. I think she's a tad envious as well....keep checking back on the site because I try and post daily updates as well as post new pictures....
From Saralee - Friday, 12th September 2008, 17:10 (GMT)
Hi Mike!

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts with us. There's no need to reply to this message. I'm sure, as you mentioned, you're very tired. And we already feel that we're connecting with you by seeing your amazing site and reading your posts. Oh - the 'shrink' in me noticed your various mentions (rather your surprise realizations) of growing older. As my father used to say when it first dawned on me that - yes - aging does indeed happen, "It sure beats the alternative." :)
Thank you for the address for sending toys. We'll be so happy to contribute.

Your pal,
Saralee

I think too often of growing old Saralee but I tend to like my life these days. It has taken me a very long time to find the happiness that I have these days.....I guess we tend to realize the value of the important things as time passess.

And thanks for contributing.
From Elli - Saturday, 13th September 2008, 08:55 (GMT)
Hi Mike,

In reading your post and the page you sent brought tears to my eyes. Thanks for sharing your life adventures. Hope to hear from you soon. God Bless.
Thank you Eli, I just posted new pics of a site we just visited. Take another stop by since I should have them up today.....
From Natalie - Tuesday, 16th September 2008, 19:46 (GMT)
Hey Mike,
I miss you guys too, every day. Getting whipped out of Iraq on a med transport wasn't in my plans, so I didn't get to say good bye to a lot of people! So if anyone asks about me, tell them I've still got all my limbs and most of my senses - including my sense of humor ... my t-shirt says "It's all fun and games until sombody loses an eye" but I say "It's all fun and games even if you lose an eye." Life is an adventure - turn on the gas and fly upside down! I'm loving your blog ... miss you and the toys and the road trips and smoking on the bench, Love Natalie
Natalie, kmow that you and Jarrod are always in my thoughts and prayers. I'm glad you haven't lost your sense of humor and I love the t-shirt. It sounds like something I'd wear. I am so glad that we finally connected and I don't plan on losing touch now. Forward the link to Jarrod and tell him to drop me a message. I miss you both but I definately miss the times we spent in the toy box with all those toys. We really got some interesting stuff, didn't we? Look forward to wearing eye patches, getting a parrot and going to the Pirates Run. Better start practicing how to say ARGHHH.......
