Thailand - Trekking Part 23

Location: Chaing Rai, Thailand

Trekking in northern Thailand, we had fun, although I'm not sure that the locals really wanted us there, very different from the rest of SE Asia, where everyone has been so nice

That is a solar panel, very progressive. The government give them away to the minority villages. This one arrived today...

Elephant trekking on a much larger scale than anything we've ever seen before. Not for us though, we're hard core, got dropped off on the opposite bank for a two day trek in temperatures that went as high as 40 degrees.

When the communists won the Chinese civil war some of the Kuomintang (Losers) fled here, to Thailand, and have set up a Chinese village. They grow tea, here's a pic

The villagers burn the forest and try and grow crops, bananas and rice are the dish of the day. We put out this fire, in such dry weather the whole place could go up
