North Of The South

Location: Nelson, New Zealand

Our last few days on the South Island, were memorable. The more random things we find to do in NZ the more normal they seem!

16 May 2007, 10:31AM

Emily fighting the fear as she walked down 'Octopus Alley'. We really are not making this up, a man has sat in his garden and gave names to rocks.

16 May 2007, 10:21AM

A reminder of China, this was the 'temple' rock...

16 May 2007, 10:34AM

The map told us to hunt out the stegosaurus. We though it might have been a rock in the shape of a dinosaur. But no, it was a toy! Which made the hunting last a bit longer!

He even put plastic toys to add to the effect. This is us being scared witless in Jurrassic Park.

16 May 2007, 10:39AM

Peep hole rock, amazing! But it was very good fun wandering around a crazy old man's garden looking at plastic toys hidden in mud. Simple things for simple minds...

16 May 2007, 10:36AM

Do you not recognise this? This is the 'glacier'! Not a great deal different to the actual thing and he had hidden a penguin inside for our delight!

17 May 2007, 12:15PM

Poipua beach.

17 May 2007, 12:15PM

Beautiful beach in the Able Tasman National Park/Golden Bay. We never know where one area finishes and another begins!

18 May 2007, 9:55AM

Picton, our ferry port to the North Island. Another glorious day, another beautiful photo! Goodbye South Island, what a place!

17 May 2007, 3:20PM

The sunset before we made our bed, we get the best bedroom window view in the world every night. Well except for when we sleep in car parks, or by main roads...
