Old San Juan, Puerto Rico

Location: San Juan, Puerto Rico

The old section of Puerto Rico's capital is full of Spanish architecture and blue marble cobblestones lanes with two forts built in 1600's to defend the island from other European countries

Fountain on Princess Promenade. Grey building on the right used to be a jail.

The blue marble cobblestone lanes

Wall wraps around the city and is 20 feet thick sandstone

Looking over the bay. You can see the wall that fortifies the old city

You wouldn't believe that just to the left of this photo is La Perla slum crawling with police presence

Looking out over the city from El Morro fort

Crowded narrow streets of Old San Juan

Cops literally on every corner to protect the tourism industry here.
