I went to the torture museum...full of instruments the SPanish introduced from Europe to "civilize" the heathens and witches of the new world

This is the strongest fort ever constructed by the Spanish (actually the Engineer was Dutch). It resisted all attempts to sack it. It is known as the Castillo San Felipe de Barajas

THere were also many forts in and around the port area, there is a chain of small islands, archipelagos, near Cartagena, which we took a boat out to snorkel around and soak up some vitamin D
