Paris #4

Location: Paris, France

For our last day in rainy old Paree, we headed to some safe indoor options. And then, of course the sun came out on the day we were leaving! Always the way...

The catacombs of Paris - this is one freaky place. As you can see Michael is a little freaked out..

Straight out of the Da Vinci Code, The Church of St Sulpice - contemplating the mystery said to lie beneath the Rose Line!

Looking a little too happy for someone sitting in front of an artistic wall of human remains..

We are 20 metres below the surface, walking along corridors and corridors of creatively stacked skull and leg bones..eek

In some places, the clever little stacker has designed pretty patterns!

While the walls are neatly ordered, up the top of the stack the bones are just lying about willy nilly

The streets of Montmartre looking up to the chuch Sacre Coeur

Back to more pleasant scenes - the day we left was the only day of sunshine, so we cafe-ed it up Parisian style. The Montmartre area (where our hotel was) is the red light district, so coffee is much cheaper here than the posho Champs Elysee!

We did the old "I'll take your picture if you take ours" trick

The steps of Sacre Coeur are a popular spot for sitting to look out over Paris

We spent an hour or so basking in the much-longed-for sunshine, on the grassy hill of Sacre Coeur

And the view from the top - really not that special!
