Barcelona #1

Location: Barcelona, Spain

We really enjoyed the energy and vitality of this city, plus were educated in Modernistic Architecture!

One of the architectural genius Gaudi´s many houses in Barcelona - this one just up the road from our hostel

First things first - collecting food for the next coupla weeks!

The same house´s rooftop on the right - it´s meant to look like the dragon St George slayed. Also, Gaudi always put a cross on his pieces

It´s meant to reflect nature - can you see the bones here??

The magnificent and yet to be completed ´Temple of the Sagrada Familia´

Another of Gaudi´s works - this time an apartment block with links to Barcelona´s seaside location (note the seaweed balconies!)

The four existing spires - there will be twelve!

This is the main entrance at present. Started in 1882, they expect to finish it in 2050!

The other side of the temple - the first stage on the right. See how the pollution has blackened it more than the newer part on the left

Gaudi´s original drawing - this is how it will look WOW!!!

Not Gaudi, but another modernistic architect. This is the Barcelona Hospital

Gaudi used incredibly symbolism, some of it controversial and not allowed by the authorities, so he had to hide it amongst all this detail on the facade
