Gallipoli

Day 1 on the bikes.

Some trenches at Gallipoli. These were Turkish.

Mid-morning stop for a "char" (Turkish tea) at a very rural cafe.

I know, could be anyone's photo, done a million times. But also shows the serene beach were the landing took place in 1915.

Ataturk's famous "your sons are now our sons" quote, near Anzac Cove.

Lone Pine Memorial, further up the hill above Anzac Cove. More stands erected for April 25th.

Anzac Cove. Much of the beach has given way to an encroaching shoreline as they have widened to road along the foreshore.

Cannakekale from our hotel balcony.

Across the Dardenelles to Cannakekale, and the closest city to the ruins of Troy. This fibreglass monster was used in the Brad Pitt movie, and donated to the city afterwards.
