Ephesus

... near Kusadasi, west coast of Turkey.

Hundreds of columns at Ephesus.

Cats are everywhere in Turkey. This one is lounging in the sun, lying on a 2,000 year old mosaic floor built by the Romans in Ephesus.

The theatre of Ephesus, like a modern day open-air auditorium.

The library facade of Ephesus, reconstructed like a jigsaw puzzle, but from authentic 2,000 year old stone blocks. So impressive.

Two regular sights in Turkey - ancient arches (in this case, a Roman aquaduct) and a minarette from a mosque.

One of the "terraced houses", that give you an immediate impression of how the Romans lived.

Ephesus archways.

A leisurely walk down a Roman road to the library. The building on the left contains the terraced houses that are being continually excavated (see above).
