Trekking in the Khumbu pt. 2

Location: Khumbu Valley, Nepal

The trek continues... to Namche Bazaar and Khumjung villages, plus almost our first sight of Everest!

11 Apr 2008, 12:13PM

Everything is carried up the trail from Jiri (4 days south). This is Yak meat. We went veggie for the trek...

11 Apr 2008, 12:39PM

Just about to start the 2 hour slog up to Namche Bazaar...over the bridge behind me first.

11 Apr 2008, 12:31PM

This is apparently what 2 hours of Nepali flat walking looks like.

11 Apr 2008, 1:17PM

"Oooh nearly there!" I thought. No, no, another hour and a half to go as it turned out.

11 Apr 2008, 12:48PM

All the bridges have prayer flags hanging on them. Hopefully not a comment on the safety level of the river crossings!

12 Apr 2008, 8:45AM

Next day trekking up to Khumjung village above Namche Bazaar.

12 Apr 2008, 9:48AM

Crow and Thamserku in the distance. Thamserku is over 6,500m high - only just a mountain in Nepal!

12 Apr 2008, 9:43AM

Highest point on the trek - 3,955m and hidden in the cloud behind me to the left is Everest! Pointy mountain to the right is Ama Dablam

12 Apr 2008, 10:08AM

Lhotse and Lhotse Shar both +8000m high mountains and Everest again hidden from view.
