Kathmandu & Borderlands

Location: Kathmandu, Nepal

My final weeks in Nepal, sightseeing in Kathmandu and my birthday at Borderlands resort near the Tibetan border - Thanks to Hannah & Hayden for some of their pictures!

A typical Nepali temple... pagoda style but made of red bricks.

The Kumari house in Durbar Square Kathmandu. The Kumari is a living goddess - until she starts puberty and they get rid of her and choose another one. Seems a bit harsh... she's not allowed to leave this house the whole time.

Visiting a Thangka painting studio - puts my efforts to shame!

Bodhnath Stupa in Kathmandu - very very big!

Swyambunath Stupa or the Monkey Temple on a hill just outside Kathmandu

A relief in Durbar Square in Kathmandu... not sure what its all about but its quite impressive!

Crossing a Bamboo bridge to go canyoning in Northern Nepal. These bridge are washed away in the monsoon so are re-made each year. They last about 5 months. This one was 4 months old I was told!

Hannah, Hayden, Bharat (our trekking guide), his sister & Me after dinner at Bharat's house in the 'burbs of Kathmandu

Canyoning! the waterfall is about 50m high - you can't see the bottom from here!
