A drive through Kabul

Location: Kabul, Afghanistan

I recently qualified to be a convoy driver here in Kabul. It's quite an experience driving in a country with no traffic laws or rules. These are some pics I took while riding as a passenger.

Folks set up shop anywhere they want.

They use trafic circles ... but it's everyone one for themselves!! -- and you MUST ALWAYS be watching for potential suicide bombers. They are out there and they'll get ya if you let 'em.

The Kabul river with some water in it. Most of the year it is dry.

The UN is everywhere here.

A local Mosque

An all too common site here - a woman begging for money.

These is a typical street scene...

Again, the Mosque

-- old and new are frequently mixed in Kabul

...more... note the "Sports Agency".

The building on the left has been under construction for so long that no one remembers when construction started.
