Manu - Deep Jungle Part 1

Location: Manu Biosphere, Peru

Ki Ki and I venture from the highlands of Cusco to the deepest, darkest sections of jungle in Peru (for 7 days). Our aim was to hunt down a wild Jaguar !!

26 Mar 2008, 6:32PM

We actually travelled to a special "reserved" section of Manu. That really didnīt mean much to me, other than it greatly improved our chances of seeing a wild Jaguar.

Our highway for the first couple of days...

27 Mar 2008, 10:35PM

...I performed my duties well...

27 Mar 2008, 5:09PM

Our vessel and crew... again I assumed the Captainīs role...

28 Mar 2008, 8:11PM

However I wasnīt the only one to have some problems on the wild Rio Manu.

27 Mar 2008, 5:24PM

...unfortunately however there was a small incident... I was relieved of my duties after this!

28 Mar 2008, 5:14PM

A lot of the wild life on the first few days was viewed from the boat.

Vicki attempts to prevent scurvy.

28 Mar 2008, 11:19PM

We enter deeper into the jungle in search of the big cat... Vicki was appropriately camouflaged for our quest.

30 Mar 2008, 10:26PM

Some monster guinea pigs foraging on the river bank. They are called Capybara. A great meal for a hungry Jaguar, unfortunately there werenīt any around to take advantage much to our disappointment.
