Manu - Deep Jungle Part 3

Location: Manu Biosphere, Peru

29 Mar 2008, 9:50PM

The meals werenīt quite as impressive.

29 Mar 2008, 9:08PM

Our tent was particularly spacious!

30 Mar 2008, 4:43PM

A simple raft I constructed with my pocket knife.

30 Mar 2008, 2:38PM

Our search moved to one of the internal jungle lakes, known as an Ox Bow, which forms when a section of the river is closed off by debri flowing down the river. We actually saw a giant otter, which apparently is fairly rare to see, however it was too far away to get a photo.

30 Mar 2008, 3:39PM

See if you can spot the small bat clinging to this tree!

30 Mar 2008, 3:37PM

We were close enough to touch this big guy. He was about 2.5m to 3m long.

29 Mar 2008, 10:07PM

We saw a number of wild monkeys (6 different species), however our crappy camera zoom didnīt really show how close we got to them (we needed you there Saba). I assure you there is a monkey somewhere in this photo. In fact one of the more aggressive species attempted to give us a "golden shower" to deter us from following them. I managed to get him before he got us.

Strange bird with 3 stomachs.

30 Mar 2008, 5:24PM

More monkeys...

30 Mar 2008, 7:09PM

I am no Tarzan.

30 Mar 2008, 7:01PM

This was a beautiful butterfly we kept seeing, it was about the size of two fists. However they never stay still so it was a little difficult to get a photo.
