Agra: Jan. 27 - Part 2

Location: Agra, India

Not much of a place for playing when you are little and you live in town near the highway.

A colourful home in a small village.

A honey farm and the symbol "om". I wonder if this helps keep the bees calm?

Like so many homes we saw along the road, poverty is the norm.

An Indian woman bundled up against the chill of the day at the edge of a village.

Watching the traffic go by his mud home, this man looks at peace.

It is hard to be "happy" when all there is is disorder, poverty, and dirt. It is easy to just make do and let life pass by.

Straw homes. Yes, they are real. This one is located near a pump making life just a bit easier.

Bricks are baked in ovens - row after row of hand-made bricks stacked to cure after being baked while waiting for someone to buy them.

Camel at a brick works.

Carting the bricks is made simpler by using the camel for pulling power.

Making the bricks is a slow process using a mould. Each brick is made from local materials by hand.
