Sintra

A short train ride from Lisbon near the coast is the fairtale town of Sintra, with it's palaces, castles, fountains, arches and ruins, it feels like you have stepped into ye olde land....

old moorish archways, now beside the road!

Sanchy with the first palace and it's distinctive chimneys

Ruins of stairs and passages in the wilderness...

New turns, new mysteries...

So we did not enter, but still got great views

And grand palaces that cost to get into and where they chase you off if you try to sneak in.... apparently

Sanch and Kris climb the 800 year old moorish garrisons

climbing a million stairs (or so) to the top of a near by mountain to see more castles and palaces, it was easy to get lost, unless you followed these helpful markers....

Climbing the walls of a brilliant rambling old castle, with views all the way to the coast

Views to pink palaces on far away hills

The walls were so provocative of a different time, of chivalry and adventure, danger and principalities....

Sanchy chillin atop the climb
