Uganda I

Location: Kiyunga, Uganda

Kisakye, Kalume, Menya and their sister Naiga

Josephus and Hope, their new baby

Ibrah, Josephus' son, eating matooke and peas. He goes to a private school in Mukono. He's a funny kid, full of personality.

Hope Tendo

Me and Somia, she is Brenda's friend and remembered me from last year.

Mmm matooke, does it look appetising? Cooked, mashed green bananas. We eat this at least every 2nd day, if not everyday!! I'm sick of it.

This is Peace who replaced Mama Brenda for cooking and cleaning. She cooks all meals for us and Josephus, Rosemary. She also gets the water, washes their clothes and some cleaning.

Naiga, Nagawa and Waswa (Nagawa's brother). Nagawa is the mother of Menya, Naiga and Kalume.

School, the soccer field is not very good. It's on a hill and full of holes. These buildings are some class rooms and the boys dorm. There are more buildings which can't be seen here.

Rosemary and Hope, in Rosemary's shop.

Waswa, the uncle of Kisakye and the boys. He ran on the field and just started chasing the ball because he wanted me to take a photo of him. He interupted the game and stole the ball to get his photo taken.

Somia.. when I showed her photos of Brenda she was so happy. She misses Brenda. I don't think she's seen many photos because she kept looking at the back of it to see if it was actually Brenda inside the photo. She stared at it for ages as though trying to work out why Brenda was not talking to her. When I showed her a photo of an aboriginal she jumped! Everyone thinks they look scary.
