Edinburgh

Location: Switzerland

2 Mar 2009, 10:00PM

We really liked Edinburgh. Picturesque, small so great atmosphere and great pubs.

2 Mar 2009, 2:05AM

Beautiful, isn't it? Can't remember which church it is - Deirdre, any clues?

3 Mar 2009, 12:16AM

The gunshot at 1300. One of those things that a crowd of tourists gather for and then wonder why they bothered. (Brendan admits he did panic when it went off, crouching in a ball and screeching 'every man for himself')

2 Mar 2009, 11:14PM

View from Edinburgh Castle to Arthur's Seat.

3 Mar 2009, 1:57AM

Graveyard where Adam Smith is buried. Couldn't find his grave. Not the first time the hidden hand has failed to direct efficiently.

3 Mar 2009, 12:42AM

Royal Mile. The souvenir shops, like those in almost every country we've been to, were run by Indians

4 Mar 2009, 1:24AM

Front lawn of the modern art museum. More gloomy weather.

3 Mar 2009, 2:10AM

Fascinating Scottish Parliament designed by Spanish architect (although concrete may date...). Were impressed by the open and welcoming design. For example, all committee rooms are glass-walled.

11 Mar 2009, 8:13AM

Great pub trivia with Conor and the Edinburgh Uni philosophy department. Our only contributions were in answering questions about Cypress Hill and the Priscilla Queen of the Desert. Were stumped by questions such as name the British PMs who are buried in Scotland.

The sun comes out and so does the entire population of Edinburgh
