crossing the border

Location: Hue, Savannakhet, Vientiane, Asia - South East

Last day in Vietnam, bus ride to Laos, and up to Vientiane

The border crossing at Lao Bao - we walked across into Laos. A man in uniform randomly stopped me, asked to see my passport, and asked if I was a superstar - I must have made a good impression.

At the tomb of Tu Duc. It was just beautiful, the light rain created a misty effect and the moss sparkled. The wet tiles were like a death trap - so slippery.

Nicholas (French) and Kevin (Vietnamese) in our tuk tuk from the bus station to Savannakhet, Laos.

The potholes in Laos - the road deteriorated as soon as we crossed the border. As soon as the bus got up speed we had to slow down again.

King of Bus - I love it.

Breakfast for Dwuz on the bus from Savannakhet. As soon as we left the bus station we drove a few hundred metres and stopped again for ladies selling rice and chicken to come onto the bus.

Monk Boua Vannasin at a temple in Vientiane. He taught me about Buddhism and I taught him about Australia and Christmas.

Dwuz, looking out on the streets of Vientiane.
