Kids queing for yummy porridge.

13 May 2009, 8:12AM

Kids enjoying porridge at break (10-11). Ok I may have said I enjoy Uglali (lunch) but this stuff is vile. It looks like lumpy, runny hot chocolate but has a tast of shit (sorry). I was only offered it for the first time the other day. I coudn't say no, so I 'gratefully' accepted. I took one sip and slipped it to a kid when Gladice wasn't looking. The kids seem to enjoy it! Gladice that was lovely but never give me it again!

The back of my classroom. I have since repinned all the displays with drawing pins somebody donated. I also made space for a display of the childrens art work they did one lesson. It was so hard to fit 36 pictures on this wall but I couldn't leave any out. Especially because they were all of me!!! Yes I created a montarge of myself. I arranged an art lesson with the glitter packs somebody donated. Gladice asked 'what should they draw?' I suggested a gargen becasue they have done seeds and leaves in science. She said no they can draw you instead, I happily agreed lol. I told you I wanted a shrine of myself. I thought maybe a statue in the playground but I will settle for this. Shame my battery is dead and I forgot my charger becasue would like to show you it.

This is the classroom that is still under construction. The younger kids have there 'devotion', morning prayer time here (8.15-8.50). They sing, dance and pray but in a kiddy way. Its nice to come and join in. The kids love it when you clap and dance along with them. The kids sometimes sing stuff like 'God is my saviour' and I look around and go humm really??? Nice on God, done a real good job here pal!

The front of the walk and some cute kids. I like the sign.

15 May 2009, 7:50AM

The front of my classroom. There are 9 rows of 3 desks. About 6 children are 2-1desk. Its very cramped. It you are unfortunate enough to be on the inside of the row you have to crawl under your desk to get out. No complaints though.

18 May 2009, 5:46AM

The 5 classrooms. Pic taken from the kitchen. The toilets are to the left of the bottom classroom.

18 May 2009, 5:45AM

In the background you have the kitchen and two offices. The building next to it is the two incomplete classrooms currently used for devotion for the young kids in the morning. The corner of the building in the foreground is my classroom. The other 4 clarrooms run in a row next to it.

The toilets. These are not toilets as we know. They call them long drops and have no drainage. Think 'autograph scene' in Slum Dog Millionaire. Imagine the stink. Don't get me wrong the whole playground doesn't stinkt but if yoy accidently walk to close you know about it. Unfortunatly a lot of the younger kids seek shade outside here.
