Location: Nong Plong Village, ThailandThese pictures are from the northeast part of Thailand, known as Isaan. This is where my volunteer placement was and where I now have good friends who have become family.
Oom, the youngest daughter of the family that runs Volunthai, teaching us about Thai food at the market in Chaiyaphum town (and feeding us at the same time). This girl is super efficient. She gets down to business and wastes no time!
Being picked up by Tik and Tawan (right), and Tawan's little niece for the trip from Chaiyaphum to Nong Plong Village in the district of Non Bua Dang. The man on the left is the father of the three young women who run Volunthai and father-in-law of Michael, the organization's co-founder (along with his wife, Ae). Michael and Ae make the contacts in Washington, D.C. and Ae's sisters Oh and Oom do the in-country contacting with volunteers and placements. Their father is a retired veterinarian and their mother is a teacher.
