Laos, River Mekong

Location: Luang Prabang, Laos

The river seemed serene with little activity but we did spot these people going about their daily

Panning for gold

Fishing is one of the main occupations

As elsewhere, at this handicraft village, the women spent their days sewing and making textiles...

Daily chores

Preparing palm sugar...the peanut crop is drying behind her..

..and then sat for hours on end waiting for tourists to barter and buy their work

Washing the clothes at Pak Ou

boiling and then selling the peanut crop

The sad look on this boy's face was heartbreaking as he begged for one dollar at the quayside.

The cry of 'one dollar' from the child sellers at Pak Ou and everywhere else it seemed

Using the paper to make crafts, we bought Emilia's mobile from here

Making paper at the village of Thin Hong
