Last pictures of Bukhara

The Sitorai-Mokhi- Hossa Palace was a gift from the Russians to the last emir. It served as a summer residence.

The local national dish of plov , cooked traditionally in what was a Jewish house

together with brightly coloured glass tiles were used throughout.

A very different style of architecture here. A lot of white alabaster.....

Liquid gold was also regularly used in the walls ....

Coloured glass was used in the windows of the conservatory.

The harem

..and the ceilings.

This was owned by a german lady!

The emir's tower by the pool outside the harem where the concubines bathed. It is said that the emir used to throw an apple. whoever caught it, was the chosen one for the night!

....coupled with some very high quality traditional fashion.

One of the dancers at the fashion show in one of the madrassah...
