Location: Mtskheta, Georgia

East of the city and then onto the Military Road to go up to the high Caucasus Mountains

The city of Mtskheta, once the capital city of Georgia, said to be the holiest city in the country.

The Cathedral of Svetitskhoveli which was built on the spot where the fragment of Christ's robe from His crucifixion was reputed to be buried. a cedar tree was planted on the spot in the 4th century and several miracles have happened here.

The sign to the Russian border, we are staying in the town of Stepanaska, founded in memory of a hermit named Stephen who predicted an avalanche was coming and so the town could be evacuated saving all of the villagers' lives,. The government only provides gas supply for five months of the year.
