Diwali

Location: Trichy and Keeranur, India

The festival of Lights. (A Hindu festival.) This festival includes LOTS of firecrackers, fireworks and food - passed between people as gifts, new clothes and school and work holidays.

Diwali breakfast brought to me, unexpectedly - but gratefully received - by my downstairs neighbour

In Trichy, the night before Diwali, tradesmen camping out to keep their spot for their stalls for the next day

Preethan and Keethan in their new clothes sent to them from a relative and kept new for Diwali. One set, a touch too small, and one set,a touch too big. SO cute!

Gowtham and Imayan came to school on the Friday before Diwali dressed up for the festival. We closed for 3 days

The garden at their house

Suresh and his parents are Hindu so we spent Diwali at their house. This is where they prayed and gave offerings to their God

Kids from around the same area

Crackers through the day - it's all about how loud they are, from what I can gather!!

playing

local kids in their Diwali outfits

Suresh running for his life from the cracker
