This is typical of the inland road to Kaikoura, many minor patches of new seal and a lot of major road works from the quake.
This is the boat harbour, the sea floor has risen here about 3 metres and a whole new Marina had to be formed. They are still working on it and it will need a thorough dredging.
This all used to be under the sea, further up the coast the floor has risen 8 metres.
When we were last here with the kids this was all under water, not now and the seals don't like it.
