Koh Phi Phi & Thai Boxing

Location: Koh Phi Phi and Bangkok, Thailand

We visited to the beautiful island of Kho Phi Phi. It was devasted by the tsunami in 2004 but has slowly rebuilt itself since then. It was the most beautiful island we visited in Thailand & would recommend this as THE place to visit if you ever want to come to Thailand.

A memorial on a massive tree near the beach where the wave came up that survived the pounding it took. The memorial is from a UK relief agency.

The tsunami cemetary where a special ceremony is held at 10.00am every boxing day. You can see where the wave washed everything in its path clean away .....even a tall coconut tree (centre right) has had its top removed due to the force.

We enjoyed a cold fruit shake out of a flower pot....near the beach

Beautiful & tranquil now...this is the spot where the huge wave flooded into the west side of the island & this area took the brunt of the impact.

Even though I have said the word 'beautiful' too many times already on this page of photo's you can see how hard it is to describe this island without it?

The atmosphere was incredible as the local punters gambled madly all night on every round & contest throughout the night.

In Bangkok we took in some local sport...where these lads beat each other senseless in a Thai boxing contest.
