A group of us went to Stockholm for a long weekend organised by Kirsten this spring... sharing a bunk room in the hostel made for a nice affordable trip - all the better for eating out at the really good cafes we found there. It was a really nice city with a good mix of old and new, lots of old architecture and pretty islands, blondes, red squirels and log cabins a-plenty...
Craig & Suz in Iceland over the easter break. Very cold but beautiful scenery and lots of blue sky mixed in with the snow! We were based in Reykjavik but managed to get out into the countryside despite the freezing temperatures!
We saw the Northern Lights which was amazing, and got to the main scenic areas, also fitting in some horse riding and plenty of soaking in the spas. The Icelanders know how to keep out the cold - geothermal pools all kept at about 38 C when its -3 outside which may explain why there are about 7 pools for Reykjavik's population of 125,000. This was a really affordable thing to do in a very expensive city and good way to see the locals in action - I would recommend it.
These pcitures are froma short break to Venice which was planned as surprise for Craig's birthday but really for both of us! The trip was timed to get there for 'Carnevale', the traditional festival with masquerade balls, costumes, and lots of tourists coming to soak up the atmosphere. Check out the Craig 'phantom' shots after we both bought a handmade mask each!!!
