Make Your Dollar Go the Distance

As I train for the Nike Women's Marathon in San Francisco, I invite you to visit my website to track my training progress through the next few months. I am running as a member of Team in Training for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. My goal is to raise $4,000 to help support global research efforts towards medical advancements in blood related cancers. As a research scientist, I can personally attest to the importance of these funds. Please write me a message with words of encouragement and stories of family or friends that have been affected by these fatal diseases..... I hope that your words will PUSH me through the hills of San Fran on race day! Thank you in advance to all who have supported me through my fundraising and training efforts!!!

Sunday, 02 October 2005

Location: Palisades, USA

What a journey....the last looong run for the team before we head out to San Fran for the real deal. We started the morning off in Englewood, with power gels and cliff blocks on hand, we headed out for a challenging course of hills along the palisades. First ran over the GW bridge, with spectacular views of the city on a sunny, clear morning. After hittinig the edge of NY, we headed back over the bridge and started our trail along the Hudson on the Jersey side. We ran up and down the Palisades, conqured the 1 mile vertical incline at mile 7, and ran all the way back for a total of 20 arduous miles! Feeling as confident as ever about San Fran......SORE, but confident!

Hey Lora,
Good luck with the marathon, I know how it feels to pound out those miles, but you are doing it for a great cause. I have been with TNT for over a year now and can't imagine doing anything without their support. The fight means so much to me as my father has fought cancer 3 times. One day I know we will all make a difference. One thing though, and you may not feel this way on race day, but enjoy every single step, cause it goes a whole lot faster than you think and there are definitely times when you will swear that someone else is carrying you through it. Good luck and enjoy. Peace out!!! G
Response: Gabe!!
I should have known that someone like yourself was a TNT mentor! Raising the bar on my own performance each week and achieving those goals has already been an amazing experience. I wish you could be out here to help me train!!! or better yet, I wish I was out there. I know your support is with me in spirit though. Thank you soo much for your contribution and your words of encouragement!

Best of luck on your training runs. I know that you are working hard and putting in a lot of time. If you ever need any help or some words of encouragement, all you have to do is ask.
