Location: Sydney, Australia

Hi folks we finally made it back home but not without a last minute drama at Singapore airport. On the way to the departure gate Jenni and Gloria our travelling companion went for a tumble when the trolley failed to clear the end of the travelator. When I arrived at the scene having stopped to pay a last Loo stop poor Gloria was just coming to, her head covered in blood and having no idea how she got there. Jenni was shaken but ok otherwise our main concern being Gloria.
The air port staff took over and after a visit to their medical centre Gloria was taken to hospital for scans and observation. Gloria spent a day in hospital and we found ourselves a cheap hotel in the native quarter. Anyhow with a few stitches and a broken rib Goria joined us next day hoping to get onto a flight home all flights being fully booked at this time of year. As you can see we got lucky and arrived here on Friday.
Looking forward to a game or two of golf, Jenni the end of washing.
Hope you enjoyed the trip we certainly did.

Location: Singapore

Hi folks we are at Singapore airport just minutes from our return to Sydney. What a great trip it has been I guess the Egypt tour must be the highlight it was more interestring than I had imagined.
Cairo although very polluted was most enjoyable. I will put the last of our photos on when we get home.

Location: Luxor, Egypt

Hi folks, sadly this will be our last from Egypt and come to think of it last of the trip. We've had such a wonderful time on our Nile cruise and it has all gone too quickly. However, we still have a couple of days in Cairo to look forward to, then on to Singa;pore and home on the 10th. We hope you've enjoyed seeing some of our photos.

Location: Aswan, Egypt

Just found an internet cafe in the town of Aswan - we are shortly going in a sail in a felucca boat. Our Nile cruise has been really great so far, the boat is quite luxurious and food good too. Its been very hot of course - 100 on the old scale today, but dry. We've visited some fabulous temples and tombs on our daily excursions, only thing is we are up at the crack of dawn to beat the heat. So we've been very impressed with the tour so far We have a lovely view from our picture window of the passing scene on the Nile banks- passing mudbrick villages and farms - still plenty of people riding donkeys and of course millions of date palms. Also most impressed with the Sphinx and pyramids they sure look huge close up. We have to run the gamut of stallholders in the markets, they are most persistent. Tomorrow we fly down to Abu Simbel and then later in the day sail north again to Luxor and fly to Cairo for2 nights before going on to Singpore

Location: Portsmouth, UK

Hi folks, this will be our last message from the UK as we are flying out to Cairo on 25th - we are a bit sad our time here is almost over but have Egypt to look forward to. After weeks of fine weather it is quite cool and showery today - makes it easier to leave!

We are at present staying with Ray's sister in Portsmouth and started our round of farewell dinner/lunches. Went to a fab air show last weekend, marvellous display teams plus heaps of old lnes - Spitfires etc. doing their stuff.

Don't know if we will have time or opportunity to get to a computer in Cairo, if not back in OZ on l0 October.

Location: Cotswolds, UK

Now in the Cotswold area for a couple of days. We visited a Roman villa, or rather the remains of one, yesterday which was quite interesting and there were some mosaic floors, though not intact. We're staying at the village of Bourton on the Water right in the middle of the Cotswolds, as with all the villages in the area it is very picturesque with a stream running through the middle with little stone footbridges across it and all the buildings are a lovely golden stone.. Weather is still fine but getting a little cooler. We're off to an air show in Sussex on Sunday which is right back on the other side of the country, but last chance to see an airshow over here.

Location: KENT, UK

Hi folks, after a quick look at the Lincolnshire countryside we had a lovely weekend with our friends Christine and Wes in the Kent countryside. Yesterday we visited a lovely l4 century Tudor mansion and today off to look at Sissinghurst gardens, which are quite famous. Weather has been lovely and sunny for us.
Our time on this computer is running out so will put more pictures up at the next library stop. The library service for computers is great, we get an hour free.

Location: UK

Have had a busy time since our last update. We spent an enjoyable few days with our friends in Leeds and then drove north through some of the beautiful Yorksire Dales, and on through the high moors country which was covered in heather, a very pretty sight. We spent a couple of nights at the coastal town of Whitby, which is where Captain Cook sailed from. This is very picturesque town and still busy despite the school holidays being over. Whilst there we went on a steam train ride hrough the moors, about 20 miles each way to the town of Pickering.
Next day we drove down the coast to Scarborough - couldn't find anywhere to park there so just had a look at the waterfront and left.
We crossed the border into Lincolnshire late yesterday and are now in the town of Boston, which boasts the largest parish church in England, St. Botolphs, and a windmill right in the town.
Going to call in to see friends near hear tomorrow morning before continuing on our way south. It's actually quite warm today, around 23 degrees.
Unfortunately we have just found out that we are unable to upload our photos into this computer.

Location: England

We enjoyed our stay in the Peak District which is one of our favourite areas in the UK. Went on a lovely walk one day incorporating part of the Pennine Way. Visited the fascinating Tudor mansion called Haddon Hall - this is practically as first built and very atmospheric. Also visited another tudor house although not nearly as interestin except they had a wonderful exhibition of embroideries from all over the world.
At the moment we are on the Lancashire/Yorkshire border and have been on a 7 mile hike today, lovely scenery and we went one way over the fields and back via a canal tow path.
Going to visit some friends in Leeds over the next few days.

Location: Buxton, Derbyshire, UK

Hello folks, back in England again - our last few days in Wales were spent at a famous beachside town of Llandudno so that we could visit our friend Paul (visiting over here from Townsville). He took us on a couple of lovely walks in the area, at Conway we were walking through masses of heather on the hills and also went on a lovely forest/lake walk another day. We've been lucky with the weather after a couple of miserable days it's nice and sunny . Right now we are in the old spa town of Buxton, which is quite a lovely town and has a small crescent street similar to the famous one in Bath. Buxton is in the Peak District, famous for walking and we're planning on doing a few short walks over the next few days here.
You'll probably hear from us next somewhere in Yorkshire.

Location: Wales, UK

Have been travelling along the west coast of Wales the past few days. The town of Tenby is very picturesque and crowded as it is peak holiday time. Lovely scenery along the coast and countryside is very green . At present in southern Snowdonia, the famous mountain region - having our first serious wet weather but supposed to clear tomorrow. We visited Pembroke Castle with our friends June and Allan from the Sunshine Coast who are here for a month, it was good to catch up with them.

PS Why not leave a message?

Location: Glastonbury, England

Hi folks, on the road again after spending a week in Portsmouth at my sister's. Have been travelling through Dorset and Wiltshire the last couple of days - glorious country and luckily weather to match, it's actually hot.
Today we are visiting the town of Glastonbury in Somerset and have just climbed up to the top of the famous Glastonbury Tor only about 500 feet but great sweeping views. As the hill is shared with grazing cows one has to be careful where one walks.
We are staying at a delightful B&B on a farm and tomorrow we're heading over to Wales to spend a few days with an old friend at Porthcawl not far from Cardiff and also hope to catch up with 2 lots of other friends from Queensland who are in Wales for August.
Enjoying it all.
ps. Photos to follow unable to upload from here.

Location: Portsmouth, UK

Hello frrom the happy wanderers.
I have been a bit slack keeping up to date but when you are enjoying yourself time gets away.
We were blown away by the falls and viewed them from every angle and vantage point we could find. We crossed over into canada on our last day and found that the best views were from that side you be the judge.
Unfortunately \jenni has come down with a chest cold and is laying low at my sisters hope she gets over this before we set off around the UK. We arer lucky that the weather has turned out fine and is forcast to remain the same for the next few days.

Looks like you are having a great time-some nice pictures, I guess the weather has been good. Got your postcard last week, thanks.
Only 2 weeks until our next set of holidays, which won't be terribly adventurous. The weather has started to warm up-we haven't had a fire for weeks, and the airconditioner will be in use soon-after it gets fixed up. I cam home one day and it was on, but not on at the switch, so I got onto the roof and manually turned it-I guess we are up for a new electronic gizmo(control) on the wall.
all the best

Hello Travelling Sands,
Got back to Oz yesterday, usual wrench leaving Mom in Wales. Customs were real bastards at Brisbane: just because I had a spot of mud on my boots, actually a heap of horseshit, they confiscated my 4 jars of blackberry jam. Back to all the painting of the new extension. Keep on enjoying the hols. Cheers P+ C.
Response: sorry about the jam still travelling well R & J
